Going to the drive-in
Mom asked if we wanted to go to the movies. Of course, we love going places and we really like the movies. What’s playing at the drive-in Mom?
The Secret Life of Pets 2
What’s She Up To?
Now this causes us to be a little leery with Mom. She took us to see the first one a few years ago and quite frankly, Tobie and I felt there was too much information about pet lives disclosed. Things like talking with the neighbor dogs when no one is home, which is why we are so friendly to them when we meet them on walks. Or how we even speak with cats, but the worst revealed secret is the adventures we sometimes have when no one else is home. I did notice Mom started closing the windows when she wasn’t home.
Safety First
Which by the way, an emergency veterinarian clinic recently posted the importance of closing windows when you are not home. I guess they see a lot of injuries and lost pets. That’s not surprising when in The Secret Life of Pets dog characters Max and Duke almost did not make it home. That did really scare us into thinking twice about leaving home without Mom. Of course, Mom never really lets us out of her site.
Off To The Drive-In
Anyway, Mom thought she was doing us a favor taking us to see the second one, but we knew she was just looking for more information about us. Surprisingly, no more new information was revealed, except that we do greatly adapt to any changes that take place in our people’s lives. For those of you who have not seen the movie, I will not give any further information away. I mean, I get very upset when others give away the story when I haven’t seen it yet. If you want a sneak peak, you can take a look at the Secret Life of Pets 2 trailer here.
Tickets Please
I do have to say it was a very fun evening, except for buying our tickets. Mom told me before we got to that funny booth to be good, so I figured when I saw a strange man talking to Mom I should bark and let him know he was too close. I guess that is not what she meant, because I heard her give the excuse that I was just keyed up to watch a distant cousin in the movie, you know the dachshund dog “Buddy”. I feel she never completely appreciates all the protecting I do for her. And the man in the booth laughed, ugh, very humilating.
We’re Blocking Who?
Once we parked in the best location, Tobie and I tried a new seat at the car. For the first sequel we thought about setting on the hood with our blankets. This would have been great except Mom said we would be blocking her view from the car, which was part of the idea. We just didn’t want to risk what could have been revealed about our secret lives.
This time we thought we would get all set up on top of the car. Mom couldn’t complain about not being able to see this time and we could make a quick getaway if the movie gave away too much information. That didn’t work either, Mom said we might be blocking people behind us. All these accusations of blocking people, what are they talking about? We had never been accused of blocking anything. Mom said the best place was on her lap or on the big pillow in the front, plus there wouldn’t be mosquito’s inside the car. Good thought Mom, I hate when I have scratching problems.
Born In The U.S.A.
But, you know me, I love hanging out with Mom, we had snack time, enjoyed the flick, and of course, getting comfortable on my great big pillow that Mom wedges in between the seats is wonderful. Now it is time for the movie to start. If you haven’t been to a drive-in movie theater lately, it’s a little different than a regular movie, so I’m told. The first thing they do is play The Star Spangled Banner, with patriotic scenes from all over the country, like the Statue of Liberty, many pretty sky scenes (both city and country), and of course the American flag. People stand up during this part. Even though I have German roots, I appreciate the many freedoms we have in this great country, so of course I want to show my appreciation for the United States, which I love!
What Secrets Will They Reveal This Time?
Now it is time for the main attraction to start. It is always fun to see all of the different cartoon animals, especially when many of them are dogs. I’m especially taken back by Buddy, considering he looks a lot like me! Just like in the first Secret Life of Pets, the main characters have many exciting adventures. As a small spoiler, I will tell you that even though most of the movie takes place in the city, just like last time, a small part of the movie is set in the country. Tobie and I thought this gave a good twist with a nice change of scenery for the sequel, another spoiler alert, NO SQUIRRELS, very disappointing.
Why Does The Drive-In Have To Start So Late?
I do have to be completely honest with you about Movie Night – Tobie and I do our very best when we go to the movies, but the problem with drive-in’s is that it doesn’t start until it’s dark outside. So this begins to interfere with our bedtime. With that being said, I couldn’t tell you how the movie ended if I wanted to, neither one of us could stay awake that long….. But that’s OK, I’m sure everyone was safe and sound by the end and Max, Duke, and all of their friends had another great adventure. Believe it or not, we actually do enjoy watching the big screen when we go to the movies, and the very best part of all is getting to spend the whole evening with Mom!
Keep adventuring
