The Doxies

Hi, we are Tobie and Mickey!

Sometimes we take over our Moms blog to share stories, tips and important information. We know our Moms love us very much, but sometimes we feel we can express our opinions and concerns better than they can. It is our desire to encourage every pup out there, just like our Moms who like to encourage all the humans. Hmm, we guess it’s kind of the same thing, since we consider ourselves to be a little human as well. Anyway, allow us to introduce ourselves…

Tobie

Tobie

I’m Tobie, and I am a long haired, very beautiful shaded red doxie.

Do you notice my handsome features? Don’t miss my ears, do you see how long and beautiful they are? Let me tell you a story about once shopping at Best Buy. We were only in the store about 2 minutes and we were surrounded by 3 or 4 workers. I was sure they were going to  throw us out, I mean I have trouble with Mom sometimes. She is always causing trouble for me when I am trying to get things done.

Anyway, I had to save the day. My natural good looks had the employees mesmerized. One guy just keep petting my ears. Then the girls there were commenting on how much they loved my ears( I get that a lot) and suddenly the guy came out with the statement, “He likes to keep them long and full for the ladies.” Well, that is probably true. I am quite the looker and I get a lot of compliments.

To be honest, I am really just a Grandma’s boy. When my Grandma and I met at about 12 weeks of age it was love at first sight. I’ll never forget on that first day, Grandma picked me up and carried me around for several hours. My Mom told her that I did have legs and could walk myself, but I guess Grandma felt better about holding me all day. Ever since then, Grandma and I have been inseparable.

Most of my life I have spent time in the country, but to be honest I am a city boy at heart. All this business of rolling in the grass and getting dirty is just not my cup of toilet water. In fact, you will never catch me messing up my luscious hair. I would much rather go with Mom to my clothes closet and try on my new shirt. Mom tells me she keeps me dressed and lookin’ sharp, but look at my natural God given beauty, she can’t improve on that.

Most of the time you will find me in my favorite activities of walking and eating. Well I don’t know, I like sleeping a lot too. But I don’t know, I really enjoy eating, so I just choose to walk farther. That way I can show my beauty off and earn the right to eat a little more.

Oh and I love spending time with my younger brother, he has a lot to learn from me. In fact, at this point I will turn the computer over to him, his name is Mickey. Wait a minute I am having trouble getting him to come. Mickey is a little shy and scares easily. If I show him it’s ok, he probably be alright.

Mickey

Mickey

Hi, as my brother Tobie said, I’m Mickey. I am a long haired black and tan dapple doxie, that’s what they tell me anyway. I don’t really like talking about myself, but Tobie said I should mention that I come from some champion blood lines, but I don’t think that it’s that important.

I just enjoy being loved by my family. In fact, if I am not getting all the attention, I think something is wrong. I guess when your kind of shy and submissive, as a doxie that can score you a lot of points in the human world. I have tried to share this with my big brother, but he insists on being high energy. It is working well for him though, he had to have surgery when he was 14 and his doctor said he had the blood work of an 8 year old. I will let him tell you more about that when he’s ready. See I have trouble talking about myself.

If I could just spend the day the way I like I would beg food from everyone. My brother may have beautiful ears, but it’s my eyes that captivate the humans. One look into my sweet and innocent eyes will make you melt. That is how I probably get a few more nibbles of food than I should. By the way Mom, how come most of the time it is bites of vegetables or fruit? Which reminds me I love blueberries, Mom said I might turn into one, I hope not that sounds awful. Anyway, my day would also have at least one walk, but to be honest I am not really into it. I mean, if I smell some squirrels or I can chase a chipmunk, now that’s a different story, but this business on just walking, what is the point? Mom tries to make it more interesting, but most of the time I do it to please her. Yeah, my Mom is pretty great. If there was a reward for dog Mom’s I would nominate her. I absolutely adore her and she makes me feel like I am the most important doxie in the whole world. I am pretty attached to her and if I lose her in the house I just track her down. I spend a lot of my day making sure Mom is ok and help as much as I can. Yes sir, I like spending time with Mom.

In the winter one of my favorite activities is to lay in front of the fire, Mom says I’m a roasting weenie. If it’s the summer. I find a nice sunny spot in the yard. I guess I try to work a good bit on my tan to keep my pretty glow. Sometimes Mom and I work on tricks and obedience and that’s a lot of fun. I mean anytime I am spending time with Mom and getting treats, that’s pretty amazing.

Ty

Mom says my oldest brother Ty was the best at learning new tricks.  He picked things up really fast and easy.  Mom said you could only trick him about once, then you had to get a new plan.  I don’t get it, because I like doing tricks.  Ty touched a lot of lives human and canine alike, so Tobie will speak of him a lot.

Ty

I wish I had known him, but Mom said he left some pretty big paws to follow in the footsteps. Tobie likes to tell me stories about his big brother Ty and well, he does sound pretty amazing. He tells me stories about how Ty encouraged a lot of dogs and humans, did funny things, how he loved to protect the family and they say he was really intelligent. My brother Tobie loved Ty very much and I just know he will want to share some of the incredible things he done with you.

Now that you know a little bit about us, we look forward to sharing more and getting to know you as well. Mom is calling us to dinner and we don’t want to miss that, so we will be chatting and barking with you soon.

Keep encouraging & so looong for now,

Tobie, Mickey & Ty
